Seller: teigntrader (259) 100%, Location: Newton Abbot, Ships to: GB, Item: 173636483166 British War Medal named 7119 PTE. J. GUNN. M.G.C. Joseph Gunn initially joined the North Staffordshire Regt with the number 14898. Analysis of the battalions given in Soldiers Died in the Great War of the ten North Staffs casualties with numbers falling between 14877 and 14928 show that the eight with numbers between 14877 and 14900 were all from the 8th Battalion. It is thus probable that Joseph Gunn enlisted in 8th North Staffs, which formed in Litchfield on 18 September 1914 as part of K2, however he did not go to France with it on 18 July 1915. His relatively low MGC number suggests that he was transferred to the MGC quite soon after its creation in October 1915. MGC numbers 7115-7117 were allocated to three other North Staffs privates with numbers in the range 18985-18906. Pte Gunn was demobilised and transferred to Army Reserve Class Z on 2 May 1919.If you are the successful bidder and would prefer the item sent 2ndClass Signed-for for its higher compensation limit (£50 rather than £20), please ask and I shall invoice you accordingly. Returns accepted if not as described. Condition: Used, Type: Medals & Ribbons, Country/ Organization: Great Britain, Conflict: World War I (1914-1918) Insights Exclusive
